MASTER PHOTOGRAPHER WITH AN ARTIST'S TOUCH
Brief History
Rick Dawson of Dawson Photography Inc. has been in photography since 1978. Starting in the film Ere, I helped the local high school with yearbook sports, hand-developed Black & White, printing the finished images in my parents and my home basement, copy work for tin type, glass negatives, and nature photography.
During the late 90s, I became a press photographer, and everything changed following the original press photographer in his work of producing photos for the afternoon paper. What image will be added to the reportage story to show breaking news or food by local cooks? Stay calm during a fatal wreck or house fire scene while taking the best images possible.
Starting in 2000, Rick became a commercial photographer for a local printing company. Any subject will be printed anywhere, from furniture to buildings and groups. I am using my knowledge to build a portable studio in the press room for items too large for the studio. This all stops because of the economic downfall.
I was trying to become a professional photographer while learning business rules. Besides lighting and posing, there is so much to know that I began to join the State Professional Photographer Associations.
The Professional Photographers of America has so far helped me achieve my goals. The Photographic Craftsman degree I received in 2011 is awarded to photographers for their service as a speaker, authors, or mentors. I am a Certified Professional Photographer, which I received in 2007. The Certified Professional Photographer (CPP) designation is the PPA industry's benchmark, renewed every three years.
2023 was a great year when I was awarded the Master of Photography, medallion I have worked for since 2008. degree is awarded to photographers for their superior photographic skills demonstrated by image excellence in portraits, illustrative, commercial, reportage, and albums, advanced education, and service to the industry.
